The Messy Witch

So Lovies, lets talk about the messy truth of being a spiritual 'artist' from inspiration, creation, trial and error and products that click. This business is messy by nature, wax, oils, herbs, powder, dirt oh my! If you were a messy child, you will have no problem accepting the disorganization of blending herbs to oils, molding wax candles, and adding fragrance to salts and perfumes. This is more of a left brain capacity skill. Not to say if you are more intellectual that it is impossible to do this work, but you may not enjoy it as much. You likely left crayons all over your room regularly because it was not a priority to the outcome.

Why would I bring this up? There are so many creators out there who may not be the neatest, organized, or definitively structured who possess extraordinary creative and artistic gifts! And oftentimes become intimidated by the minimalistic, modern, and clean pallet of society. I have tremendous respect and appreciation for spiritual artists! They bring us the raw and chiseled crystals, herb mixes, conjure oils of many different bases, infusing, filtering, sewing and etc. And a that is hard work hat most are not willing to do. Its all too easy to purchase these products already made or from a large assembly line made by machines.

It is known by 'seasoned' practitioners that things that are handmade are more spiritually potent. To make things yourself, regardless of the means, offer more spiritual value to your intentions. Most practitioners will offer to teach people to make things themselves for that specific reason. This holds up well when making things for Ancestors, especially if you knew them in life.

But back to the mess. Now, being disorganized and messy can attract negative energy and spirits. However, the heart of an artist can be very scatter-brained, and not in a bad way. So if you find yourself overwhelmed with so many creative ideas and you notice your spaces becoming cluttered and messy, it is common to call upon fairies, gnome spirits, and apprentice/familiar spirits to help you clean up, and organize.

Why? Because these spirits are always present when you are creating, inspiring you, and watching you. They are just as much a part of the process as you are. They are already invested in your success, so asking them to help motivate you to get stuff in order, wash cloths, sweep debris, and refresh offerings in altar spaces. Oftentimes, it can be because of open communication between these entities that cause the mess in the first place. So they already feel obligated to help, just remember you are never alone.

I have to rant a bit about how much fun it is to wash your hands a hundred times just to complete a simple spell. First its the melted wax or wax shavings on your palms, next the oils we anoint our candles and tools with, and lastly the herbs, powders and dirt we roll them in. And not just candles, keys, charms, paper, dirty writing tools, dyes, and glycerin, oh my! And there is the is the grief of getting stuff on your face, clothes, or even in your hair. YIKES! At times we accidentally ruin cloths, stain windowsills and burn small holes in the carpet.

Yes, accidents happen, and I will always encourage everyone to always practice safely. Do not leave candles unattended especially the free standing candles. Please burn candles on a safe surface, use gloves when handling chemicals, and clean surfaces as soon as possible. I encourage when knowing that you are going to come in contact with dangerous chemicals, protective eyewear is encouraged.

Now the saying cleanliness, is close to Godliness, however true, sometimes you will find jars, and bottles covered in many layers of wax. Oil bottles mixed with other oils, dyes and stained cloths. The work of a with is similar or often than not exactly like an artist. Witchcraft, is exactly that, a craft. Something you practice with, experiment with over and over until you get it right. The universe is infinite with energy to be molded to our liking or highest good. And we are the creators or painters of our own reality, sometimes you've got to get messy.
